The Council held six public meetings to solicit public input over a five-month period that led to an ordinance that strikes a balance of fairly regulating short-term rentals while maintaining neighborhood character. There are strict penalties for violations and three violations in any 24 month period will result in revocation of the STR Permit.
The ordinance will take effect following adoption by the California Coastal Commission, which is tentatively scheduled for mid-September.
PLEASE NOTE: The City anticipates being able to accept applications starting on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. Property owners will have until November 13, 2019 to apply for a Short-Term Rental Permit to avoid code enforcement action.
