[ARCHIVED] COVID-19 RESPONSE INFORMATION

The City of Grover Beach continues to carefully monitoring the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic and following the direction of the County Public Health Department. Public health and safety is a top priority for all of us as this is a serious public health concern given the spread of the virus around the world. Please visit ReadySLO.org for up to date information from the County regarding COVID-19, to learn more information about how you can prepare, and see answers to frequently asked questions.

The City is committed to responding to this public health situation with care, compassion, and consistency while continuing to provide essential services to our community. The City is following the guidance of the State and County in cancelling or postponing large-scale events and meetings and we have also cancelled recreation classes and facility rentals through the end of March.  Beginning on March 17, we are closing City facilities including City Hall, Police Station, and Community Centers to in-person public access through the end of March out of an abundance of caution for the public and our staff. A similar action has been taken by the Five Cities Fire Authority for public access to its fire stations including Station 2 in Grover Beach. The City of Grover Beach remains open for business with our customers by phone or email and we ask customers to send us information electronically and use our online services in lieu of coming to City Hall. We will waive late fees, online convenience fees, and other related fees during this period.

In addition, on March 16 the City Council ratified a declaration of local emergency for the city as enacted earlier in the day by the City Manager/Emergency Services Director (click here for a copy of this declaration). This declaration was enacted as a precautionary measure to simplify City procedures and enable reimbursement of costs in responding to this public health situation. This action will allow the City to continue responding to this rapidly-changing situation in a prudent and responsible manner in partnership with other local agencies.

We are in this situation together and we all need to work together to prevent the spread of this virus. We are asking residents to take necessary precautions to help prevent the spread of this and other respiratory viruses:

* Wash your hands often
* avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
* cover your cough or sneeze
* avoid close contact with people who are sick
* stay home when you are sick.

Grover Beach is a strong community and we will get through this together. The City will continue to update this page with additional information about our response as this situation continues. Thank you.
