[ARCHIVED] City of Grover Beach and South County Chambers Provide Microgrants to 20 Businesses This Week

GB Microgrant

GROVER BEACH, CA – Beginning this week, 20 Grover Beach businesses will receive up to $10,000 in one-time financial assistance to help them combat the economic setbacks brought about by COVID-19, made possible by the City of Grover Beach’s microgrant program and in partnership with the South County Chambers of Commerce (Chamber). This microgrant program is meant to help alleviate the impacts of COVID-19 by providing funds that can be put toward paying salaries, commercial rent, buying personal protective gear and any other modifications required to make the business compliant with COVID-19 guidelines.

“These microgrants will help Grover Beach businesses that were impacted by COVID-19 to re-open and generate economic activity once again,” said Jeff Lee, Grover Beach Mayor. “We will continue to work with the Chamber on these types of assistance programs to ensure that resources are available to our resilient and diverse business community.”

Since public health and safety is a top priority, each microgrant recipient was required to submit the County’s completed self-certification form to verify safe reopening consistent with public health guidelines. The following local businesses will be receiving business assistance microgrants from the City of Grover Beach:

• 8575 Perfetto Caffe                                  • Bunn Thai Bistro                                • Central Coast Beauties

• Coastal Business Distribution            • Coles Linen and Laundry               • Epic Entertainment

• First Class Seconds                                    • Fuego                                                        • Grand Inspirations Home

• Heaven Tea Leaf and Foot Spa            • Hey Gorgeous Formal Wear       • Let’s Knit

• Nails By Jennifer                                         • Nan’s Pre-Owned Books              • Pacific Flips

• Protective Law Corporation                • Sloco Data, Inc                                    • Studio 805 Salon

• Voler Inc                                                           • WhiteCrest Smart Dentistry

The business assistance microgrant program is being funded by $100,000 in SB 1090 funds, which is a ratepayer fund approved by the legislature and the California Public Utility Commission to mitigate the local negative economic impacts of the decommissioning of the Diablo Canyon Power Plant. Additionally, when the City Council adopted the Grover Beach Fiscal Year 2020-2021 Budget, an additional $50,000 in one-time General Fund funding was added to also help support this initiative. “The COVID-19 pandemic has hit small businesses particularly hard, which is why we were thrilled to partner with the City of Grover Beach to help make these grants available for local businesses,” said Jocelyn Brennan, South County Chambers of Commerce President/Chief Executive Officer. “Many of these businesses have already expressed gratitude for the program and are looking forward to being able to continue serving the Grover Beach community.”
